How DevIntel Assembles POI Data
Published by DevIntel · Content reviewed 2026-10-22. Dataset snapshot dates are stated separately.
Mapped to one schema, de-duplicated across sources (same place within 100 m with a similar name), US addresses cleaned, and building footprints added from Overture buildings.
What enters a release
The current pipeline combines Overture Maps, Foursquare Open Source Places and All the Places. Records without a name or matched building polygon are excluded. US records without a known state and records without a known country are not offered as regional purchases.
Deduplication and geometry
Similar names within 100 metres can be merged across sources. Proximity and name similarity are not proof of identity: colocated businesses, franchise branches and changed names require care. We do not publish a measured deduplication precision/recall score.
The building match is the containing building or the nearest within about 50 metres. Coordinates and WKT building geometry use WGS84, EPSG:4326. This is not a survey or a guarantee of storefront occupancy.
Schema and identifiers
Each region uses the same delivered columns. The internal source-mixture column is not delivered. An identifier derives from the winning source record; upstream changes or a different winning record can change the identifier between releases.
Release and source dates
The currently documented snapshot is 2026-10-20, release 2026-10-20_fef6547e. Quarterly is the catalog refresh cadence, not a promise that every upstream source changes on the same day. Article review, snapshot, sample-selection and license-revision dates have different meanings.
