POI Data Quality, Coverage & Limitations
Published by DevIntel · Content reviewed 2026-10-22. Dataset snapshot dates are stated separately.
Non-empty fields are not the same as verified facts. Review the computed regional percentages and actual sample rows before buying.
What fill rate measures
Fill rate is the percentage of records with a non-empty field in the snapshot. Global rates are weighted by regional record count. A populated address can still be wrong; a missing address is not evidence that a place does not exist.
Coverage exclusions
The pipeline drops records without a name or building polygon. Records without a known country, or a known state for US purchases, are not sold. Snapshot counts are not complete censuses and cannot establish market share or business-opening rates without further validation.
Status, taxonomy and entity resolution
“Active” means not marked inactive in source status, not a recent phone call or site inspection. Categories retain mixed source vocabularies, such as Hardware Store and fast_food; they are not normalized industry codes. Similar names near one another can be merged incorrectly or remain unresolved. Source delays and omissions vary by region.
Geometry and identifiers
A nearby building may be used rather than the exact occupied building. An identifier can change if the winning source record changes. Do not use geometry as proof of ownership or occupancy, or assume permanent cross-release identifiers.
Corrections
Send the region, release, entity identifier and supporting evidence to info@devintel.io. Independent accuracy, taxonomy precision/recall and longitudinal drift studies have not yet been published.
